Quick Thoughts on the iPad

by aakar on April 8, 2010

I’ve been using the iPad for a little less than a week and I’ve really enjoyed it. Im eating some of my words from my previous post on the iPad announcement but at first sight it definitely reminds me of a giant iPhone/iPod Touch although after using it for awhile you realize it is a lot more. It’s really a hybrid laptop. I’ve had the chance to exclusively use it for a few days because my MacBook was in the shop. The only issue I have is that some web pages have parts that don’t work correctly like the Facebook friends listing that pops up. Also, the iPhone apps run well but look awful. I need a version of the reeder app for the iPad and a Facebook app. Also it would be great if meebo would get an ipad app out there. Other then those issues the device itself is fantastic. It’s basically the Internet in your hands. I’ll have more thoughts on this and the new iPhone 4.0 os when I have some more time.

By the way this post was written on the iPad

Recommended Reading

by aakar on February 19, 2010

Over the past few weeks I noticed that the daily digest  ’Interesting Reads’ post was getting  a little convoluted.  As a result, I have gotten rid of those posts and instead I have created a ‘Recommended Reading’ page which is a more effective way of showing what I’m sharing via my RSS reader.

Family Guy Actress Responds To Sarah Palins Criticism

Burn… That’s a burn Sarah Palin, a burn…

In my family we think laughing is good. My parents raised me to have a sense of humor and to live a normal life. My mother did not carry me around under her arm like a loaf of French bread the way former Governor Palin carries her son Trig around looking for sympathy and votes.

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft sat in his office recently and reflected on his teams accomplishments to begin the millennium.”At the risk of sounding immodest,” he said, “I believe we are the team of the decade.”

Problem w/ Daily Digest

by aakar on February 16, 2010

Noticed that the daily digest post that happens every night with a list of ‘Interesting Reads’ has been incorrectly publishing the day.  So for example last night (Feb. 15th) it published ‘Interesting Reads for 2010.02.16′.  I can only assume that it’s getting the date from the server and that the server isn’t in the same timezone as my posting cycle.  I haven’t had time to look into this but will do so when I get some free time.

Spring? Not Yet.

by aakar on February 16, 2010

Boston is about to be pounded with about 6-10″ of snow.  Unlike last week where the weather psychics were premature in their declaration of 10-12″ I think they are being as conservative as possible in their prediction this week to avoid any costly backlash.  So while I hope they get this prediction wrong I don’t think that will happen.

However, even with it snowing like mad up here you can feel the slight breeze of Spring around the corner.  How?  Well pitchers and catchers report this week and that means baseball is *almost* around the corner.  While, I’m not convinced this Red Sox team will be as dominant as it could be because it’s missing a big bat in the middle of the line-up I’m trying to convince myself otherwise.  So here’s to Spring everyone, may it come sooner rather then later…
