Palm Pre Preview: Simply Amazing

View Comments

I have slowly caught up the various announcements made at this years Consumer Electronic Show (CES), besides the ‘Powermat charger’ and a few other things such as the 1-inch TV the Palm Pre seems to be the most interesting of the bunch. I will hold my real gushing until a few months later when it has been reviewed, but so far all the information has seemed to be positive. The WebOS is what seems to be the most interesting:

I think this phone’s biggest appeal will be the central role the internet plays in the OS. The way it pulls data from various web services, and melds it into its own framework is top notch. I think being able to text, and gChat and send IMs over AIM all from the same window is such a benefit to the user to not have to switch windows for 3 different apps for messaging. And obviously, you won’t be talking to someone on a bunch of different messengers at once, but over a period of a week, you might have convos over these different services, and it’s good to keep track of all these interactions in one place.

How ‘Slumdog’ was filmed

View Comments

I haven’t had an opportunity to see the film yet, but it’s been getting rave reviews. Everyone who I know that has seen it has said nothing but positive things. Hopefully I will have a chance in the coming weeks to get myself to the theater to watch it.

It was the smell. That was what really hit Danny Boyle the first time he went into a slum in India.

Rick Reilly: No question, Utah is the national champion – ESPN The Magazine

View Comments

I can not say that Utah should be the national champion, because in reality I’m not sure who should be. But what I can say is that Rick Reilly and the Utes make a very valid point. We’ve reached the culmination of the college football season and it seems that we’re still arguing over who deserves to play in the championship. I mean if that doesn’t say something, then President-Elect Obama stating on national television that there needs to be a playoff should god-damn very well say something. Granted that the Florida and Oklahoma matchup on paper and hopefully on television should and hopefully will be a greatly contested game, but that doesn’t stop us from wondering about Texas, about USC, about Utah, what-if? This happens every year; there are always questions about the rankings, about the BCS, about the bowls. But it never gets resolved. I really hope that one day us as college-football fans get to watch a championship game without questioning who-else should have been there.

Some gifts people give are pointless: Styling mousse to Dick Vitale. An all-you-can-eat card to Kate Moss. The BCS Championship given to Oklahoma or Florida.

It means nothing because the BCS has no credibility. Florida? Oklahoma? Who cares? Utah is the national champion.

The End. Roll credits.
