Here’s To You Mr. Cab Driver Man

Cab drivers in general are an interesting group of the general population. If your new to the city your hope is that they aren’t screwing you or if you know the city you hope they adhere to the fastest possible route, while driving at the very least 15 mph over the speed limit. Most of them tend to not be very social and when they do speak, it’s usually them talking on their cell-phone. In general though they are just trying to make sure they get you to where you are going and they get paid. Most often or not due to varying circumstances *cough* bars *cough* I may not have enough cash in my wallet to pay for the entire trip, at times like these I usually ask the cab driver to pull-over at a ATM so I can withdraw the necessary funds to pay for the transportation. More often or not you’ll get a dirty look but they’ll end up pulling over because they want their money. Last night though I bared witness to something that I’ve never seen before, a cab driver not caring about the difference. Mind you it was only 2 dollars or so, but still. I took a cab from Kenmore to Oak Square, which cost me about 13 and change, and prior to getting dropped off asked him to stop at one of the ATMs, because I only had $11.00 on me. The cab driver said “No need to stop, just give me what you have”.
I was completely baffled to say the least. That was a first for me.
