Great Article on Apple’s iPhone
Wired has a great article on the Apple iPhone and it’s history titled: The Untold Story: How the iPhone Blew Up the Wireless Industry
I recommend everyone to read it because it’s quite insightful on how, where, and why Apple got into the wireless business and what some of the issues it dealt with along the way. There are some great take-aways from the piece, such as Apple makes roughly $10 a month from every iPhone AT&T customer. That Apple had originally designed an iPod phone using the click-wheel code-named the P1, short for Purple 1. And that the engineers had considered Linux as a potential OS for the project, but Jobs strongly pushed back.
