Tumbling Around With Tumblr
One of the major gripes I have with WordPress is that it is a full fledge Content Management System (CMS). It is geared more towards writing long dedicated posts, such as this one. But when you want to make quick-posts it tends to be a difficult process and more of an overkill.
So I’ve begun messing around with Tumblr and have noticed that it’s a fantastic quick-post tool. The interface is very slick and very simple to use. It still doesn’t have all the functionality as a blogging tool such as WordPress, but that is exactly what I was looking for. Because I’m not ready to give up this blog, I’ve integrated the Tumblr posts into this blog. It didn’t take too long and I’ll highlight how I did it in a following post. Hopefully Tumblr will allow more frequent posts to be made by me.

ESPN – Support players important to Patriots’ perfection pursuit:
It’s easy to find ways to highlight the great players. But the Patriots have an uncanny ability to create essential roles for capable players who work hard, prepare well and concern themselves more with the common good than individual accomplishments.
SI.com – Writers – Lee Jenkins: Brady’s success a testament to hard work – Thursday January 31, 2008 12:34PM
In two seasons on the varsity, Brady’s record was a modest 11-9. He signed with Michigan, for the chance to be a seventh-string quarterback.
Pretty good article on Tom Terrific. But it just shows you what a little bit of luck and a lot of hard-work has the potential of getting you.

Patriots Superbowl Bound
Patriots took out the Chargers last weekend to make it to their fourth Superbowl this decade. They will be facing a red-hot Giants team, a team that has been on an absolute tear. New York vs New England, it seems that we can’t get away from the rivalry. I wish I could afford a flight, accommodations, and tickets to the game, but I can’t. Instead I’ll be spending Superbowl Sunday at Jillians in Boston, it should be fun as long as the Patriots end up winning.
Patriots in AFC Title Game
The Patriots will be playing the San Diego Chargers this Sunday afternoon in the AFC title game. Here’s hoping that this year is much different then last year!
Great Article on Apple’s iPhone
Wired has a great article on the Apple iPhone and it’s history titled: The Untold Story: How the iPhone Blew Up the Wireless Industry
I recommend everyone to read it because it’s quite insightful on how, where, and why Apple got into the wireless business and what some of the issues it dealt with along the way. There are some great take-aways from the piece, such as Apple makes roughly $10 a month from every iPhone AT&T customer. That Apple had originally designed an iPod phone using the click-wheel code-named the P1, short for Purple 1. And that the engineers had considered Linux as a potential OS for the project, but Jobs strongly pushed back.
Whose Country? Oh That’s Right It’s Our Country Thanks For Reminding Me JCM
I tend to watch an inordinate amount of television. Mostly sports and primetime shows, but just to put it bluntly it’s a lot of television. In such a situation you are always guaranteed to see the same commercials over and over again or at least the same advertising campaign over and over again. Obviously causing you further disdain for the company and anything else related to the commercial i.e. actors, music, artists. Since last football season Chevy’s latest ad campaign has reached the top of my “advertisement campaigns I hate list”. It’s fallen into the “Smooth” radio play category. For those of you unaware, the most overplayed song if not in history but at least in the last decade or two was Carlos Santana and Rob Thomas’s song “Smooth”. I still get that nails on a chalkboard shiver when I hear that song on the radio. And seriously it’s still played on the radio. At any rate Chevy’s “Our Country” ad campaign, which is tailored around showing various different commercials accompanied by John Cougar Mellencamp’s song “Our Country”, has to be the worst recent ad campaign to date. The song has reached a monumental height of annoyance. The roommates and I have to literally change the channel or run out of the room so we don’t get angry when said song comes on TV. Well it seems the hatred is reaching to all levels of the media too as Peter King in his latest Monday Morning Quarterback article points out:
l. My hope for the New Year is a pretty simple: that John Cougar Mellencamp writes a new song for Chevy
Too bad it took so long, but I’m hoping some Chevy marketing executive gets the memo that this campaign needs to end immediately. Nothing against John Cougar, but let’s hope Chevy tries to change it up.
